Will it ever be Argoed's turn?

THE recently published Caerphilly County Borough Council budget plans for the financial year 2013/14 should on the whole be commended and credit be given to the Labour cabinet for applying them.

It is good to see a return of some old-fashioned socialist policies being implemented after the misspent years of the Plaid Cymru administration. But there is one admission from the budget that rather saddens me. There is no mention of any financial help in a bid to regenerate the ward of Argoed. Of course, I am a realist and understand the council has far more overriding aims, such as social services, houses, and education, not to mention the tight restraints imposed by Whitehall, and the Welsh Assembly Government on its budget. But surely the cabinet could have found some money to look into a feasibility study to regenerate the ward? Historically successive Labour and Plaid Cymru administrations have totally ignored this ward. Hopefully, something might be done for the ward in future budgets, but I for one am not going to hold my breath.
