Honour charge they made

MARCH 11 was the 100th anniversary of Captain Godfrey Morgan, and as reported in the Argus, Tredegar House is celebrating the life of that gentleman, a former Lord Tredegar.

I feel that the statue of that gentleman astride his famous horse Sir Briggs should be repatriated from their enforced exile in enemy territory outside Cardiff Museum. This year would be a fitting year to do so. Tredegar House is where they should be. Why are they in Cardiff anyway?

One possible explanation is that Godfrey was born in Ruperra Castle on the Glamorgan side of the Rhymney.

A more likely explanation is that Cardiff co-opts anyone or anything seen as "Welsh".

As if to prove my point, the inscription on the statue reads: "Godfrey, First Viscount Tredegar. Erected by the County of Glamorgan as a Tribute of Respect and Affection".

If the County of Monmouth want to erect a statue to him there is nothing stopping us!
