Time to rebel for city's sake
3:25pm Tuesday 19th March 2013 in Letters
HAVING read the front-page story in the Argus on Tuesday, March 12, “HOW DO WE STOP THIS?” the answer is really simple, by- pass Newport altogether and let all but residential and essential traffic carry on down the M4 corridor to the proper cities called Cardiff and Swansea.
Just look at the SDR lanes on the roundabouts, what a joke they are! The traffic- lights at Tredegar Park are on all day, causing unnecessary mayhem, WHY? And why on earth are they still on in the late evening and early hours? I really think that Newport City Council officers of all parties over the years have had a suicidal attitude to the state of the town/city, there is nothing special in the retail or entertainment industry in Newport, unlike Cardiff, Newport is a haven for boozers and fighters at night so why would anyone with an ounce of decency spend a night there?
People of Newport, wake up and rebel, where is the Chartist in you? Give your councillors a bloody nose at the next elections and keep on giving them stick until they do what they are paid for.

Have you ever been to Cardiff or Swansea on a Friday/Saturday night? You will see more than your fair share of drunken pugilism in those "real cities" too.
What we need to stand up to is people who constantly talk us down. Shame on you.
