In a hole? So stop digging

THE Caerphilly AM (Argus, March 15) seems to have a strange version of honesty as it relates to the behaviour of the Labour group. Was this the same Labour group that failed to mention at the special council in January that all top officers, including the now suspended chief executive, would continue to receive their massive hike in pay until April 1?

Was that honesty or a deliberate attempt to conceal the facts from elected members and the public? He also mentions issues raised in the Wales Audit Report relating to the previous Plaid Cymru administration.

As a former leader, I can’t recall my administration ever being found to have acted unlawfully as the current Labour council has. In fact, the current crisis under Labour’s watch is the worst since the authority was set up in 1996.

Labour has made Caerphilly a laughing-stock and in the eyes of the public has undoubtedly brought the council into disrepute. I have a message for the Assembly Member for Caerphilly: If you’re in a hole stop digging.

Allan Pritchard Former Leader of Caerphilly CBC

No Doubt the Unionist caerphilly councillors will try and deflect the issue on to Plaid. Labour is good at playing the blame game, the Tories of the 80's or the Plaid council. Grow up Unionist Labour

Would have thought that Mr Cuthbert. in his position as a Minister within the Welsh Government would have had enough to do without spending his valuable time trying to defend the illegal actions being investigated by Avon and Sommerset Police as a result of the damning report by the Welsh Audit Office into the running of his local Labour council.
