Valleys need heart and hope
3:05pm Wednesday 20th March 2013 in Letters
I HAVE just read this article Green Group Blasts Race Track and cannot understand what the objections are about. Who are these protesters?
From the plan shown, there are no nearby residential properties, only industrial units. I have driven past this particular piece of land many times and have yet to see anyone “enjoying” it. Sometimes there is the odd dog walker and their animal which, no doubt, is polluting the ground itself. What is the matter with these people? Can’t they see that this development is a massive opportunity for all of the Heads of the Valley towns? If they want a view, they only have to go further up the road to the Llangynidr moors for one of the best views anywhere in the world, never mind Wales.
Perhaps they would like to go to the Job Centre and watch the people trying vainly for jobs that don’t exist. Surely jobs count more than “a view”? In my opinion this development would give back hope and heart to valleys which have suffered greatly from the demise of the steelworks and the coal pits. Let’s have some good news for once. I implore the planners of Blaenau Gwent Borough Council to grab the opportunity for the sake of the Valleys and their future.
