Don't end up embittered

I WAS pleased that Councillor Nigel Dix found the time to respond to my letter (March 18) in which he states: “I have a complete lack of understanding and compassion with regard to the homeless.”

I realise that the Labour Party are desperately trying to locate and house the estimated one and a half million illegal immigrants we inherited from the EU through Labour’s open-door policy, enabling them to vote Labour legally. But even if the 23 homeless people having £500k of tax-payers’ money spent on them are Welsh it doesn’t merit the expense. Labour should be looking forward now, ready to build tens of thousands of hostels to accommodate 20 million Bulgarians and Romanians who will travel through Europe to arrive on our shores in 2014, all of them armed with Master’s degrees, making the most of silly politics. So Nigel, don’t end up like me, disillusioned and embittered by the Labour Party’s demolition of Britain, keep up the good work, Wales really needs people with your foresight and intellect.

I think Mr Dix asked for that.

Perhaps Cllr Dix might wish to express his views at a full council meeting of Caerphilly council where he might get support from his own Labour colleagues in the chamber.
However, having glanced at the attendance record at full council meeting at the beginning of last week, I was a little surprised that it appeared that he had not even turned up for the THREE previous consecutive meetings of the full council. Where, incidentally, the issues of Senior Managers Salaries and the damning report of the Welsh Audit Office was discussed.
So perhaps Cllr Dix might wish to explain why he is claiming more than £13,000 in council expenses for letter wrinting to the press but fails to attend meetings of the council, that we as council tax payers pay him for?
Perhaps he was out on boarder patrol or still looking for the 400 jobs he was bringing to Blackwood by last Christmas..

Interesting comments but as usual wrong, I would add that I do not claim any expenses, I am paid an allowance as are all councillors. I work part time and spend at least 30 hrs a week on constituency issues, as for the 400 jobs it was Plaid who through them away, I changed the planning consent on 5th of December 2012, it took another 3 moths for the 106 agreement to agreed, ( not that you would understand what that is ) so its only now that all the necessary work has been completed. The jobs will come, however if you and plaid had you’re way the bulldozers would have demolished the site by now. As for meetings I actually work for a living and still manage to attend all my scrutiny meetings and 95% of council meetings. Facts are not your strong point
