SIR – If letter writer George Cowley had his way he would close all pubs.

I don’t believe he thinks before he puts his pen in action, He’s happy to see pubs closing.

Let me remind George that many people work very hard all the week and look forward to the weekend when they can enjoy a pint.

Many of those workers work in foundries and deserve a drink. They earn it.

That’s their little treat.

People who have always worked hard, George, are entitled to a drink as much as those who have never worked, nudge, nudge!

They don’t want to see their pubs closing.
