THE SUN is set to shine on the first ever Blackheath Festival this weekend.

The High Street is set to be transformed into a live entertainment venue with countless attractions throughout Saturday afternoon.

The festival is being organised by Blackheath Business and Community Association (BBCA) in partnership with A Better Blackheath Association and Sandwell Council.

There will also be a special performance from Fusion Dance during the festival, which will run from 2pm until 6pm.

Former councillor and secretary of the BBCA Mary Docker is looking forward to the event.

She said: “It looks as if the weather will be great and we are hoping people turn out and enjoy all the attractions that is being laid on in Blackheath.

“This is the first festival of its kind in Blackheath and I am hoping that if successful this will become an annual event.”

BBCA chairman of Nagi Daya Singh added: “This brand new festival is exactly what Blackheath town centre needs at the moment and we hope it will attract families from far and wide.

“We have had a lot of support from local traders who are looking forward to the festival and seeing a massive influx of people into the town.”
