Standing up for the elderly

MOST citizens in Wales will empathise with Mr. Walt Jackson (Argus 2.8.13), concerning the “tyrannical” treatment meted out by certain sections of authority to our senior citizens who have contributed to our country, fighting and working from very early ages in most difficult conditions. Where is the protection and respect they deserve?
On the bright side, I wonder how many elderly citizens know that we have an: Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, Cambrian Buildings, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff, CF10 5FL. (Phone 08442 64 06 70) Email email@example.com.
The commissioner’s role is to be an independent champion for the older people of Wales, promoting awareness of their rights and interests, challenging any discrimination and providing more support and information. Hopefully, this is not just another powerless quango.
