A selective read

A selective read I MUST respond to your correspondent (In Glass Houses) in the Argus (September 26).
Unfortunately, his reading of the annual improvement report on Caerphilly County Borough Council was very selective as he attempted to rubbish the former Plaid Cymru-controlled authority.
I would draw readers’ attention to page nine of the auditor’s report, which states: “Since concluding in September 2012 that the council was likely to comply with the requirement to make arrangements to secure continuous improvement during 2012-13 providing it increased the pace of improvement, we have found significant failings in its governance arrangements.”
And, of course, under Labour’s watch mind-boggling rises for senior council officers were approved.
They have brought embarrassment to Caerphilly as well as running up a bill which will cost council taxpayers’ many millions of pounds at a time when they considering many cuts and have already axed bus services.
