I take insult

AS A person who “lives in sin” I take insult that David Cameron wishes to reward couples with a tax break if they get married and accept the “blessing” of the Church or State. The clear message being sent out by the Tory party is that those of us who cohabit are somehow inferior to those who are married.
Perhaps David Cameron thinks that by getting married people will be more committed to family life and better at bringing up children? Absolute nonsense considering the divorce rate and the children who have suffered because incompatible parents have “stayed together” for their sake!
If the tax break isn’t a “one-off” payment perhaps it could actually increase the marriage and divorce rates and could be a money spinner?
