It can be rebuilt

WHEN the Chartist mural was under threat last time, due to proposed redevelopment which did not happen, regular meetings were held in the Catholic Church Hall on Stow Hill. Everyone knew that the mural was not placed directly on to the wall – it was on panels so it could be removed if necessary – look at the photos in the Argus.
The only thing stopping it being moved then was where to put it due to its weight. A suggestion was a wall on Stow Hill above the Catholic Church. But it did not happen because the redevelopment did not take place. It was deliberately destroyed this time because the clowncil does not want visitors or tourists coming to Newport – why not?
I still say that a cheap lightweight replica could be produced and affixed to the blank wall at the first floor of BHS. (British Home Stores). Anyone who supports my idea please write to me at my address below.: Brian J. J. Jelf, 1 Stelvio Park Avenue, City of Newport, NP20 3EP.
