Will saga end?

I AM wondering whether this saga will ever end. There are so many comments, online and in letters, mainly against the demolition.
Conversely online there is one chap who applauds the council’s action with so much zest I’d swear he was an elected member.
I think he misses the point. The demolition is not now in question: it is the terrible way the council went about it. And even now they are not answering the questions, like exaggerated cost, mural not attached to wall and why notice wasn’t given. Equally, most of our well paid councillors are keeping quiet. Bob Bright as leader in particular faded into the background when he should be leading the debate, as there is no doubt he knew about it before.
The relationship between councillors and officers needs a radical review.
If the council’s Labour group had used some common sense, they would have paved the way for demolition by getting people on their side, publicising a replacement, involving schools and stressing the importance of the Chartists. Why didn’t the officers advise this course or was it ignored.
