I WOULD like to thank Mr Pritchard for his letter (17.10.13) where he argues that £14.4m of the Icelandic lost millions has been paid back. It is clear that when in office, or out Mr Pritchard gets it wrong. Before writing my letter I checked with head of finance to see how much had been paid back, it will not surprise readers that £2.1m is still owed, and not 600K as claimed by Alan, to put this into perspective the outstanding amount is equivalent to around 3 per cent on your council tax bill. The Icelandic affair has resulted in lost interest payments and capital that could have been used to cushion the coalition cuts. It would be nice even at this late stage for Alan and former leader Cllr Whittle to apologise for their lack of leadership and bad judgment, after all we all paying the price for Plaid’s maladministration.
