I AM heartened by the level of support I have received after my decision to be the sole councillor to vote against the Council’s decision to borrow £90,000,000 to build the Friars Walk development.
The allegation that the Labour Group were subject to the party whip meant that the debate was not as open as perhaps it might have been and I am surprised that the administration didn’t have the confidence in its decision to allow a free vote. I hope that my caution is misplaced, but if it is not it will prove the old proverb that it is ‘better to live one year as a lion than a thousand as a sheep’.
