ISLWYN AM Gwyn Price’s column is always worth a read (‘Your AM writes’, 26 November). And, on behalf of the Pontllanfraith ward, I’d like to echo Gwyn’s tribute to the Rev Marion Barge of St Marys Church, Pentllwyn.
Though the phrase ‘pillar of the community’ can often be read on these pages, very few people could merit that praise more than Marion. Her commitment over many years to the wellbeing and pastoral care of Penllwyn and Pontllanfraith residents has made a real difference to people’s lives, in a community where many face real deprivation.
We thank the Rev Marion and wish her, and Brian, a long, healthy and enjoyable retirement.
Cllr Gez Kirby St Andrews Drive Pontllanfraith
