AM all for small businesses being given grants, to help their businesses but when care homes claim residents come to them to use the internet, which is absolutely not the case as my mother is a resident there, I object to grants being applied for under false pretences.
The carers are so rushed off their feet they wouldn’t even have the time to show residents how to use it, and I know over 90% of the residents would not have the mental capacity to take in any instruction, or even know what the internet or Skype was. Besides, there is one computer which is for office use only, and in the evenings the office is locked.
We as a family have never been made aware of any availability to Skype our mother if ever we wanted to and she has been a resident for over ten years !
