BAD marks for the Argus this Christmas. Publishing a list of important/vital contacts for us all over Xmas ignored Gwent deaf people.

We found 84% of them, including most of the NHS/GP ones, were not accessible to anyone deaf. What do they expect us to do in an emergency, send pigeons? When I campaigned years ago for Minicom access for Gwent deaf people, the Argus was the first in Wales, and probably the UK, to publish that number. Now we are back to square one. There is no use publishing a number unless it has appropriate access for the deaf to use, complete with alternative means published.

Ninety percent of Welsh GPs were found to offer no access to deaf people.

We text, we use sign relay, we e-mail, etc. There are all sorts of alternatives.
