Turning cheek

I WRITE in response to Julian R Powell’s comments on Mr and Mrs Aston’s article on Christmas and why Jesus was born.

Oh, Mr Julian R Powell, what a scoffer you are ridiculing their comments. I could come down to your level of sarcasm, but that wouldn’t be very Christ-like of me would it?

Why not join an Evangelical Church in Newport, where you will find Christ-like people who will interpret the Scriptures for you and give you a better understanding of why Christ came to Earth, etc, etc?

Mr M Stafford Gwaun Coed Bridgend

'Christ-like'? Not 'Christian'?

Delusions of grandeur methinks.

And 'Interpret the scriptures for you'? In the words of the immortal Bill Hicks on this subject...

"I think what God MEANT to say..... pretty presumptuous, huh?"

I am not criticizing anyone in particular but with our knowledge of world history ,not human history, how can anyone subscribe to the world was made in seven days and Adam / Eve fairy story ,a genetic impossibility . It is quite clear to me there must have been a few Tony Blair types involved in compiling the religious texts surrounding that old now extinct Sinai volcano Yahweh .I ask the question is it fear ignorance or a combination of both that perpetuates these myths and is the cause of great bloodshed ,africa is a current example .
