Hospital's chaos

First published in Letters

JOHN Griffiths (Assembly Member) concerned about the lack of road markings for cyclists, his attention would be better served looking at the chaos suffered by hundreds of motorists each week at the entrance to the Royal Gwent Hospital on Cardiff Road. This is a problem that could be greatly improved by removing the grass bank inside the hospital grounds to create a designated lane to the car park.

The entrance really needs to be moved off of the Cardiff road as it is badly located and causes major problems

The whole approach to parking at the hospital needs to be changed. There aren't enough public parking spaces at the hospital and staff cars currently fill all of the surrounding residential streets.

It would require a certain amount of investment, but there is a clear case for a multi-storey car park for staff, patients and visitors to be built on this site, complete with its own dedicated entrance. The existing entrance on Cardiff Road could then be reserved for emergency vehicles.

I would even consider a small charge for using the new car park in order to recover costs, although this would need to be waived for staff and be low enough as not to unfairly penalise out patients who need to attend the hospital regularly.

Why is he a waste of space, is he one of the car park attendants? Does he not earn enough money as an AM? I think he should only have one job - give his Royal Gwent car park attendant job to someone who hasn't got a job. Pah.

What a ridiculous comment - you don't seem to have anything constructive to say scrapthewag, other than throwing meaningless abuse at Labour MP's and AM's and Newport City Councillors.
