REGARDING H. Williams’s letter (January 15) re a dedicated lane for the Royal Gwent car park.

There is a much simpler and cheaper solution easily available.

Remove the centre island from the pedestrian crossing outside the Gwent.

It is not used often enough to cause any problems if it were a single crossing.

Make the bus lane then a queuing lane for the car park. The bus lane could still have operational hours, say 0200hrs to 0201hrs.

This would avoid having to repay the Assembly and would make Cardiff Road flow. Problem solved.
