IN THE letter by R.B. Williams (January 13), we are told that Newport City Council “did not have much experience in managing historic properties – particularly Newport’s Tredegar House”.

Why did the council take decades to admit this loss-making farce? The reason was probably because of the bullying, arrogant and ignorant attitude of the Newport Labour leadership and its supporters.

Newport Labour-led council should also now hand over the management of our historic Indoor Market to the National Trust, the new bus station and shelters’ management to Newport Transport Ltd, the city centre management to the Task Force and our roads and highways’ management to Gwent Police.

We would then see efficient and “experienced” improvements in long-suffering Newport.
