THIS letter is on behalf of my father, Michael Elliott.
“I am an 87-year-old widower and I live alone.
The other day, I had a fall and gashed my head on some stonework.
Luckily I was able to get up and to call the Community Alarm Service who alerted my daughter and the ambulance service.
I was taken to the A&E department of the Royal Gwent Hospital and I was so impressed with the attention and care shown me that I felt I had to express my thanks publicly.
After assessment, I was given tests including balance, sight, reflexes, hearing as well as heart monitoring and blood pressure checks.
The NHS may well be in difficulty, but my experience was of a caring and efficient service of which we should be both proud and thankful.”
