IN NOVEMBER 1883 a portrait of Philip Woodruff, of Machen, was hung in the Reading Rooms there.
At the time he was the proprietor of Machen Tinworks and was, for many years, the chairman of Newport Board of Guardians. If any of your readers have knowledge of the whereabouts of this painting or any photos of Mr Woodruff I would like to hear from them. 01766 770185.
