Costly greenery

First published in Letters

I HAVE just received a note about the new recycling that is going to take place shortly.

I see one of the reasons is to save money. I am all in favour of this so please can Newport City Council save money by getting rid of the live plants it has in the Civic Centre. I was at reception early the other week and they had two gardeners tending the plants. Must be a saving if they get rid of these?

I am somewhat perplexed with respect to the recyling exercise which been introduced !.. The carboard waste must now be put in a bag and collected the same day as the orange garden waste bin.. This is supposed to bring about effiiciencies and savings. How then can it be exolained why now a large rubbish truck turns up with crew to empty the orange bin, folowed then by anoher large truck together with crew to empty the carboard bag... Summary ... One extra large truck and one extra crew!!!!!!!!!
