Grass fears

First published in Letters

THE grass on the football pitch situated on the playing fields behind Cardigan Close, Crescent (Croesyceiliog) has turned yellow. (It has not been cut or subjected frost damage). I telephoned the appropriate council department and two councillors asking for an explanation but to date have not received one.

So could Torfaen council please inform me exactly what has been sprayed onto the pitch? Was it a weed killer? Was it glyphosate based? When was it sprayed/treated? Were residents informed?

I am obviously concerned as the pitch area is used by adults and children on a daily basis. If glyphosate has been sprayed there are health implications. (Endocrine (hormone) disruption, DNA damage, birth defects, cancer etc).I do hope this time I get a reply!
