THE PROPOSAL to restrict the sale and use of e-cigarettes is farcical. Before using one of these devices, I had been a heavy smoker for more than 20 years and all attempts at giving up had lasted a maximum of two days. Since switching to e-cigs a year ago, I haven’t had a single cigarette – I don’t use the e-cig, only keeping it as a security blanket in case I get a craving.

The population of Wales is significantly less healthy than the UK as a whole. Measures that encourage people to continue smoking tobacco products can only worsen this situation.
