Leave us alone

I’M INCREASINGLY annoyed by the constant attacks on Wales by David Cameron and the Daily Mail. Cameron constantly refers to NHS failings in Wales which he blames on the Welsh Government. Clearly he is determined to convince the electorate that socialism does not work.

It is rarely recognised that socialist policies in the shape of nationalising banks and governments worldwide bailing out banks saved the world from financial Armageddon in 2008, which was caused by light regulation and the greed and incompetence of bankers.

The NHS is over-managed, underfunded and understaffed. With rapidly increasing demand, an ageing population and less money available, the situation is reaching a crisis point. We must save the NHS by creating a service fit for the 21st century. The article in the Daily Mail about the so-called Republic of Wales was inaccurate and insulting. Its attack on the Welsh Government for nationalising Cardiff Airport was particularly annoying, especially as many of the world’s most successful airports are in public ownership.

The article ignored the fact that since nationalisation there has been an 8% increase in passenger numbers, new airlines have come to Cardiff and there are now more destinations on offer.

Who cares what Cameron says ? roll on independence and a Tory free country ! We don't need sillies from Eton running Wales down, we have plenty who gripe already here. Sadly I feel the NHS is lost, we cannot sustain the NHS on the funds we get, guess who is starving Wales of that funding....

Some facts about 'Socialism'
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Anyone deluded by socialism should take a look around France these days. It's horrific. I (try) to run a business there. Hollande is a total cretin. Funny that the IMF now forecasts UK growth at the highest in the western world. That'd have been a pipe dream the day Brown had completed his destruction of the UK economy.

The NHS in Wales IS failing, and the healths service is a devolved responsibility and it is therefore perfectly reasonable to lay the blame for this at the door of the Welsh Assembly.

The NHS in England is also facing difficulties due to the aging population and ever increasing treatment costs but are managing these without allowing primary care standards slip to the levels seen in Wales, where the lives of patients are at serious risk.

Could that be because only someone clinically insane could ever believe in the economic viability of an independent Wales awash with immigrants being tutored at taxpayers in 'Welsh culture'?

Britain unionist like Llanmartinangel says... always pull out that old tooth Wales can't afford to be independant. The same was said when countries gain independance from the British empire. Even USSR said the same when that empire was split up. Independance is not really my point. But hey you seem happy to be ruled by not elected politicans in London.

Ah yes, that brilliant, whopping growth rate that all of Britain is experiencing(not just the south-east, honestly).

Never mind the fact that we have nearly a million people using food banks. Never mind that we have failing private rail, water and energy companies making a hash of running our utilities and charging us more and more for a worse service. Never mind that we've got record numbers of young people out of work and a record number of people in low-paid, zero-hours contracts with next to no rights at work. Never mind that the people who caused the financial crash (the bankers and stockbrokers) have got off scot-free while disabled and elderly people have their benefits cut. Or the fact that poor children are now less likely to have a decent education than ever before thanks to tuition fees and cuts to EMA.

Just keep listening to Gideon Osborne telling us that he's saved the world. The British public won't be fooled so easily. Bring on 2015.

Llanmartin Angel your five points there can basically be summarised into one: you don't like socialism as its inconvenient for affluent people.

For me though the benefits of socialist ideals (including an NHS; council housing; nationally-owned utilities that prioritise service over profit; provision for the elderly, sick and vulnerable; full employment for all) far out way inconveniences to those who 'don't believe in society'.
