I THANK Ian Simpson of Bron Afon Community Housing for admitting that tenants living in the south of the borough of Torfaen will have to pay what is in effect a “location” tax of £4.30 per week (£17.20 per month).
Indeed, tenants in the north will have a lower rent as they will not have to pay the “location” tax of £4.30.
The fact that we will have to pay this addition to our rents is not softened by its gradual introduction as we still have to pay it!
Bron Afon CH’s rather punitive rent increase and “location” tax show a crass indifference to the fact that many tenants are struggling to make ends meet in the recession.
