Litter louts

First published in Letters

WHAT a terrible legacy we are leaving our children and grandchildren whereby many, many people seem to want to live in a litter blighted environment. It’s a pity more of the litter morons out there can’t be caught and prosecuted. Also councils, the Welsh Government and politicians really need to be doing more to tackle this worsening problem.

You have to wonder what their homes are like. Maindee is a cesspit most of the time, dog fouling, vomited on pavements are the norm, as soon as it is cleared up its back again the next day. It's worse at school times, parents park in our streets and throw food, cigarettes and empty ashtrays over walls, then drive off. They drive up of a morning and their kids are already grazing on chips, crisps, sweets, MacD's, and junk food at 8:45AM. Come 3pm it starts all over again. There is little respite and they just do not care. Our only hope is to ask the council to ban them all from parking within half a mile of the schools. They completely ignore the signs.

Littering is a by-product of feckless parents and their offspring in an age where the threat of being accused of offending someone overrides the attempt of rectifying wrongdoing. From the home through schooling these people can narrate the Human Rights Act verbatim but think 1066 is an alcoholic beverage, nothing else.
