I FEEL I must respond to Chris Evans Rogerstone Grassroots April 28 regarding affordable houses being built on the former Dudley Site. He says Seren Group had done its best to work within and listen to the local community. I agree affordable housing is a requirement in this area, but not to the detriment of local residents. Part of the development overlooks the rear of my property with a block of five two storey terraced houses with their gardens adjoining my drive. I objected to this part of the plan from the outset to the planning department of Newport City Council, Seren Group, and the local Community Council, but to no avail. It makes me very angry that as individuals we stand no chance against developers or local authorities coming in and taking away our privacy.
