Lost Labour

YOUR correspondent Mr Simmons is spot on when he says the Labour Party has forgotten its principles, ideas and policies (SWA 1-5-14).

I would suggest the party Mr Simmons yearns for has long ceased to exist. The Labour Party is now the party of the Iraq and Afghan war, the first party to renege on its promise of a vote on the Lisbon Treaty and the party that gave us uncontrolled immigration.

When you think of the Labour Party forget Bevan and Benn remember Mandelson and Blair.

It's time for a sea change in voting habits which mirrors the sea change in politics. It's quite obvious the elected have nothing but contempt for us, they only adapt policy because they have to, not because the electorate demand it. Ukip highlight how fed up people are with the EU which has made the other parties adapt policy, but they do so reluctantly as it doesn't fit their agenda. Only a vote for UKIP will steer the minds of the elite.

Yes, and don't forget the 140 tax rises in 13 years under Brown all aimed at working people.

And hard line at that, this is thatcher II in a suit. Whatever the pros and Cons of Labour in Wales, what is the viable alternative ? Tories are hated, the plaid ridiculed as extremist or nationalist losers, so a vacuum is apparent, what this does is reduce the amount of voters yet again who are disenchanted entirely with greedy and fraudulent fee-loading politicians of all types. In reality this opens the door to more extreme parties. The answer lies with the voter, no vote then you don't matter, and no point railing at windmills instead. we could well be faced by migrant communities voting for their own and ignoring anyone else too. Years of Labour encouraged Mass Immigration, no reopening of any Coal-mines or Steelworks....

Thanks to Labour People in the Welsh Valleys and Cornwall - Britain’s two poorest areas - scrape by on less than £14,300 a year on average. Because Britain is so expensive, this leaves families in these areas worse off than those vast swathes of Eastern Europe,

Go back awhile 8 May 1945 VE day, not just that people were happy at the end of the war but the type of people celebrating. our old also remember that Labour at that time still cared about our people and they were about to start building our NHS, setting up the National Coal Board and providing social housing for us and they carried out that promise.

How that change for the bad over the years, on the mass increase on immigration Labour has deserted the British natives in favour of the Immigrant, pandering to them and their Religion in order not to be shown as a racist party and secure that vote, while ignoring the native British, from that we have the mess we are in to day, people uninterested in Politicians because of the lies we have been fed and promises broken, also by this stupid Coalition Government.

The poor in the rest of our Country, In Lincolnshire and Durham, the next two poorest areas in Britain, people live on less than £16,500 a year. This puts them in the same bracket as Estonian's and rural Poles, once prices are taken into account.

Britain’s seven most hard-up areas - including Lancashire, Leicestershire, South Yorkshire and Staffordshire - are poorer than ANY region in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Finland, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria.

West Wales and the Valleys is now in the top five poorest areas in Western Europe - with families HALF as wealthy as their German counterparts on average,( but I will still vote Labour my dad did has kept the poor poor, Vote Labour for more to be poor..

Eurostat, which is Brussels’ equivalent of the Office for National Statistics, measures wealth across the EU using a measure known as 'purchasing power standards'. This measures GDP per person but also 'takes into account differences in national price levels', to give a more realistic picture of how much the cash in people’s pockets is actually worth.

This is the inevitable result of forty or fifty years of misgovernment by a ruling elite LAB/CON/LIB which puts the interests of the parasitic Ethnic City of London way ahead of running a proper, productive economy....Roll on the General Election...

I don't think its just labour voters who are poor, Cameron's thatcher wannbees do a pretty good job of equalizing us all that way, except in the city of London and via his rich friends. Whilst welsh voters still see that happening they are unlikely to want more of the same and will blame tories for it, there is little love lost between welsh voters and thatcherism.

Wales has suffered too long from the Westminster set up. Wales will vote labour again, because the prospect of a tory-run assembly is too horrific to contemplate, and because if wales doesn't vote much at all, extreme parties will form coalitions, and we saw what happened when tories and lib-dems did that !

Coalitions don't work.
