THE Nato commemorative coin is an improvement on the official Nato Summit Wales logo. Note that the Nato symbol (superimposed on the coin’s map of Wales) is centred, approximately, over the Celtic Manor Resort, Langstone, Newport.
Therefore, might it not be good for the City of Newport’s image to have its own banner/logo – to celebrate this historic event taking place at Newport. A “city banner” would not replace the official Nato Summit logo. A city banner would serve (and could be kept for posterity) as a reminder of the historic event.
It is likely that much of the media interest – before, during and after the NATO summit – will be focused on Cardiff, rather than Newport. Therefore, I would like to suggest that the City of Newport should have its own icon to display to the media - in the form of a banner displaying following.
