I CAN fully understand the Scots’ passion for their beautiful country as I can the Welsh for Wales. What baffles me is how such a large number of the population can be drawn towards the abyss by yet another of history’s odious little “corporals” – one Alex Salmond.
Not one of his opinions makes an iota of sense. He says about the distance from London to Scotland – look at Britain in relation to other countries, we are tiny. He is no doubt thinking he will have everlasting financial support from the EU, but how long will the EU last?
I wouldn’t buy it a long playing record, as European history has demonstrated so often. An independent Scotland would be an open back door to terrorism, illegal immigration and a massive security risk.
Yet Mr Salmond and his blinkered companions see only the self-gratification of obsessive political gain. I sincerely hope that the majority of Scots accept greater devolution, but keep the important link with the United Kingdom.
I feel that any referendum or discussion on the future of the UK should have been shared by the UK. After all, it will affect all of us.
