WHAT a muddle our society is in!

On the one hand, we trumpet our commitment to human rights and have no hesitation in rebuking regimes that trample on them (provided this is not bad for trade). On the other hand, here at home, we deny the most fundamental of rights — the ‘Right to Life’ — to a whole section of the human family, the unborn.

Legalised abortion must one day be seen to be incompatible with justice and a civilised society.

We denounce all forms of discrimination on grounds of gender, race, age, colour, sexual orientation, etc., but discriminate ruthlessly against human beings during the first 40 weeks of life.

We can’t have it both ways. A society cannot live with this double standard. Something has to give.

One day, please God, respect for the unborn child will return.
