HAVING tried to get to the shops on a mobility scooter, I now feel sorry for the disabled who use these. Firstly, there are no dropped kerbs along Cardiff Road on the pavement outside Ebbw Bridge club, nor in Old Cardiff Road, while others are too high for a pavement only scooter. Also, despite double yellow lines, entry to the footpaths is blocked by parked cars.

For scooters using the footpaths which are uneven and strewn with dogs mess etc, it is not easy. Larger scooters may not have so much trouble.

One thing suggested is instead of pedestrians crossing the road, cars cross the pavement. By building the road up to pavement level, there would be ramps for vehicles to cross the path. This would also slow traffic and would be safer. This would not cost any more than the “sleeping policemen” that the council put in.
