IN RESPONSE to a poem by Patrick Madden regarding the cemetery at St Peter’s, Blaenavon. I have asked many times why the graves of the town’s forefathers couldn’t be restored?
The replies range from protection of an endangered butterfly to headstones posing a danger to those who visit and, of course, who will pay the bill.
Blaenavon has a rich industrial heritage and many of those who forged the spirit of the town lie in the earth that is being swallowed up by brambles and other wild plants through lack of care.
Please fence areas off and place three or four goats in there at very little cost and no danger to the public.
Then have a mass clearing of the site.
The town and those who lie in the cemetery deserve it!
