I REFER to the Argus dated 28th November where it states that Community Support Officer, Amy Williams, was in Abertillery town yesterday. Officer Williams was checking on shoplifters. I am amazed that this should hit the newspapers. Surely it should be normal to see officers and PCSO’s patrolling our towns. It appears so unusual that this should be commented on.
What a state we have got into due to over zealous government cuts that it is such a rarity to see police or community support officers and apparently it’s going to get worse.
We must not blame the police service or the PCC who are at the end of their tether providing the best service they can.
Maybe I’m a dinosaur, but it should not be news if a constable or PCSO is sighted. It should be normal.
