IT CONFUSES me that Newport BC propose a five per cent increase in council tax amid all the threats of cuts. We see little street cleaning, repairs, maintenance, street lighting, waste. Councillors fail to serve the people, yet the expanding population of Newport must pay more. I must be reminded that we live in a democracy.
