SO GLAD Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, has shown his support for Tesco’s Neighbourhood Food Collection with a visit to an Abergavenny store.
A tad hypocritical perhaps considering that it’s his own Con/Dem Government which has created the need for food banks as they continue to persecute and stigmatise claimants as a matter of policy in order to force them into low paid, often zero-hour employment or to be self-employed (low pay and no holidays!) so that bosses can reap high profits.
Claimants are directed to food banks when they have a delay in receiving their benefits or have been sanctioned by over-zealous JobCentre staff who have to meet targets and are often members of the PCS Union.
In the 21st century, there shouldn’t be a need for food banks!
