CND CYMRU and Côr Cochion will be joined by many other peace activists from Wales to support a demonstration outside the Royal Gwent Hospital on Saturday, as part of a UK wide protest at the spiralling cost of Trident. The Royal Gwent, like so many other hospitals throughout the country, is at breaking point with a staffing crisis and shortage of hospital beds whilst this government is hellbent on wasting another 100 billlion pounds on useless nuclear weapons.

The Tories claim that they cannot afford to pay the agreed 1 per cent pay rise for NHS staff, yet pour millions of taxpayer’s pounds to subsidise Hinkley Point nuclear power station. It is us who foot the bill for this grand folly, just as it was us who had to cough up the £60 million to police the NATO conference junket in Newport. The politicians preach to us about austerity, the need to cut the deficit, yet throw billions away on nuclear weapons which, like cruise missiles, will never be used. Only we the people can stop this madness.
