THE recent letter by Labour’s Cllr Nigel Dix demonstrates his lack of ability to understand economic growth.
A successful economy needs a strong private sector in manufacturing and retail to help pay for the public sector.
If Labour had reduced corporation tax in objective one areas, this simple act might have saved Woolworth and Burberry closing in many valley towns.
It would have helped local small businesses in Bargoed, Blackwood and other valley towns.
It could even have helped start new companies, who would employ more local people and stimulate the local economy at the same time.
