I ALWAYS enjoy reading Michael Pearlman’s excellent articles about Newport County, but would like to suggest that one important aspect seems to have been forgotten with regard to Justin’s departure – namely the missing fans.

I live in Shropshire, but have been supporting County for 45 years. My round trip to Rodney Parade is four hours and I camewill be coming to my seven7th home match of the season on Tuesday v Tranmere. Sadly, I predict the attendance was 2,327will be between 2,200 and 2,500.

County are in their highest position for more thanover 30 years and, despite losing the last 4 games, are still in the play-off positions. However, Newport fans seem not to appreciate this fact. Justin questioned where the missing thousand were earlier in the season when the opening day crowd of 3,600 rapidly diminished to 2,500.

If we do decline and end up mid-table, I fear crowds around the 2,000 mark will be regularly seen. I believe this was a significant factor in Justin’s departure and should be flagged up. Newport really should be pulling in 4,000 on a regular basis with all that has been achieved in the past few seasons. I think the Newport public should take a good long look at themselves before lambasting Justin Edinburgh’s loyalty.
