AS PARTY LEADER, I would like to announce that the Welsh Independent Party has changed its name to the British Empire Party. The reason for this is because the party has been getting mixed up with Ukip.
With people starving, there is now a foodbank in Monmouth. The British Empire Party wants to help people. Starting with the Dixton Road development in Monmouth, we held a petition showing that 73 per cent of Monmouth residents support the proposed plans. As a party, we feel that the decision should be a ‘yes’. If it doesn’t go through, what happens to the people who want the 65 jobs mentioned?
People are complaining about the hotels planned for Portal Road and Hadnock Road too, but we are all for jobs in Monmouth. I have been living in Monmouth since 1959 and it was the same then as it is now. No one wants new businesses in Monmouth.
Gary Whitcombe, Party Leader, British Empire Party
