IN THE run-up to the invasion of Iraq, studies at Cardiff University showed that only two per cent of anti-war voices were heard on the BBC. Propaganda works and a majority of people believed Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. It was all lies and spin, typical of the Blair government, but it got George Bush his war.

This time it’s Russia (or President Putin) who wishes to destroy our way of life. It’s not a popular view, but Putin is not the problem. There’s a growing disparity between the actual situation in Ukraine and the official rhetoric of some western leaders. Europe is being pushed towards a war which could go nuclear.

Kiev’s President Yanukovych was deposed last February in a Washington-backed coup. US “puppet” Petro Poroshenko was installed. The people of Eastern Ukraine reject this government and are paying the price with their lives.

The Kiev junta has shelled schools, hospitals and homes and the violence is growing. Kiev militias were responsible for the Odessa massacre when anti-government protesters were burned alive.

This is the reality in Ukraine. Neo-Fascist thugs are once again on the march across Europe, but you’d never know it from our docile media outlets.
