IT IS EXTREMELY regrettable that factually incorrect information recently appeared in the national and local media concerning an incident at Croesyceiliog School.

This involved an injury sustained by a teacher from a drinks can dropped by a pupil from a third floor stairwell. The media reports implied the school failed to give support to the teacher involved, failed to contact the police and then requested the police not to investigate. This was all factually inaccurate.

I can confirm the school immediately called the police, offered them our full support and at no time considered restricting this to internal school processes. I would like to stress we support any action the teacher and police consider necessary.

I am also confident that everything was done to look after and support the teacher immediately after she was hurt and we continue to offer our full support.

I would like to reassure parents that appropriate action has been taken and the safety of pupils and staff at Croesyceiliog School will never be compromised.

I was saddened that the excellent reputation of Croesyceiliog School, policies of the school, confidence in the school and integrity of the staff could be jeopardised by this information. I’m glad we have now been able to correct all inaccuracies.
