IT will surprise no one that the current Welsh secretary, Stephen Crabb, argues that he would have preferred a so-called rainbow coalition at the Assembly, made up of Plaid Cymru, the Tories and the Lib Dems.

Mr Crabb knows only too well that Plaid Cymru and the Tories are not ideological strangers. As for the Lib Dems, they have played their part in allowing a minority Tory government to implement the bed room tax, while spectacularly failing to eliminate the deficit.

Cameron has asked Labour to rule out a SNP/Labour coalition, which I believe will not happen, while Mr Crabb argues for the Tories to get into bed with Plaid Cymru and the Lib Dems to keep Labour out of power in the Assembly. Mr Crabb’s double speak will fool no one.
