WELL HERE I am again with what I can only describe as appalling treatment at the hands of the eye department at the Royal Gwent Hospital.

I have waited a year for this appointment my eyes are deteriorating and yet again they have cancelled my appointment.

This must be the worst clinic at this hospital, my appointment was 9am they rang me at 8.50 to tell me it was cancelled (I was already at the hospital).

This is not good enough, when I rang them back they could not give me another appointment and I was told it could be months before I could get another appointment.

I wanted to transfer to another hospital, but because of the stupid rules of the Welsh Government, you can’t go to the hospital of your choice, like you can in England.

I find this quite appalling, especially when you cant get the treatment at the RGH.

Maureen Davey, Dylan avenue, Cefn Fforest Outdated THIS week, I made a visit to the town centre branch of Barclays bank in Newport, not a frequent occurrence these days because the town centre has ceased to have any appeal.

I was dismayed to find that the bank’s interior was still its dated, drab old self, despite reports over the past two years that it was to be modernised.

It is the only branch I know which has not been updated.

Although we are all getting excited about Friars Walk, this is tempered by the fact that the old town centre remains empty and run-down, with no sign yet of new business opening anywhere.

Is Barclays’ apparent lack of interest in us typical of other companies?

Of those who ARE trading, no one seems in a rush to make their premises attractive; they, too, remain dated and drab.
