ONE of the most repugnant and distasteful comments made on television was when Ukip leader, Nigel Farage attacked HIV sufferers from abroad for getting treatment from the UK’s NHS.
It’s routine and normal for Ukip to attack immigrants and to wrongly scapegoat them for the failings of the present economic system, but to use ill people who require our help to try and score a cheap political point was rather vile, xenophobic and bigoted!
Of course, in desperation, Mr Farage has his facts totally wrong! The actual cost of treating British people who fall ill while travelling in Europe is five times higher than treating European visitors to Britain!
The UK spends £30million, but £155million was spent by European countries.
