ED MILIBAND should stop sneering at wealth creators, a trade minister in the the last Labour government has said. In a highly critical open letter to the Labour leader, Lord Jones of Birmingham, who was a minister from 2007 to 2008 in Gordon Brown’s government, accused Mr Miliband of being “ignorant at worst and disinterested at best” about the effects of higher taxes. Lord Jones’s letter criticised Labour’s plan to increase the minimum wage to £8 an hour.

The level of the minimum wage should be left to the experts on the Low Pay Commission. Ed and his team are finding it very difficult to persuade some of its members, so how can they persuade the general public that they are the party to govern?
